Syrian men promise to marry women who were raped - The Washington Post
To reclaim their “honor,” families in Syria have been known to kill raped female members. Even if families allow such women to live, they are not eligible to marry.
“We sat and discussed that we want to change this. We don’t want to change just the regime in Syria, but also this kind of stuff. So we will marry them in front of everyone,” said Ibrahim Kayyis, a 32-year-old baker from Jisr al-Shugour.

Global 'Slut Walk' hits London streets - Yahoo! News

Thousands of women took part in a so-called “Slut Walk” in London, insisting that they should be able to wear as much or as little as they like without facing sexual harassment by men.
The colourful march on Saturday saw most people wearing everyday clothing but some wore provocative outfits as they marched on London’s central Trafalgar Square.
Slut Walk was first held in Toronto earlier this year after a police officer caused outrage by stating that “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimised” during a speech to university students.

Beyonce - Run the World (LIES)
This is a fascinating dissection of the idea that “We run the world (girls)”, Beyonce’s new feminist anthem that, as the woman in this video very passionately articulates, maybe be jumping the gun a bit. Incredibly excellent writing. I want to be friends with her. I want to have conversations with her.

Teachers, parents grapple with how to explain bin Laden death (The Lookout - Y! News))
While many of us are still processing last night’s late-breaking news that Osama bin Laden was killed by a team of Navy SEALs, many teachers had to stand up bright and early this morning in front of a classroom of curious youngsters to field their questions on everything from assassination to terrorism, with little preparation.
“One of my students walked in this morning and said: ‘OsamaBin Laden is dead … is that a good thing?’ Leave it to a six year old to put things in perspective,” a California teacher wrote on Facebook today.
